withdrawal information

The withdrawal policy was established to permit students to officially withdraw from a class or all classes after the tenth calendar day of the term. The grade "W" is not used in calculating the student's GPA.

WITHDRAWING THROUGH THE MIDPOINT
Beginning the eleventh calendar day of the term and continuing through the midpoint of the course, students may withdraw from a class or the university without instructor/department permission. A "W" grade is recorded on the transcript and appropriate tuition and fees are assessed. Refer to the Income Accounting and Student Loan Services Offices for refund information. Check the Academic Calendar for specific withdrawal dates. Students may withdraw from classes by the following methods:
  • Admitted students should access the Campus Information System to withdraw from first session, second session, and term-length classes.
  • Students enrolled in noncredit courses should contact the Continuing Education Office.
  • Students enrolled in workshops, short term, or miscellaneous courses should contact the Registration Division, (801) 581-8969 for withdrawal procedures and deadlines.

WITHDRAWING AFTER THE MIDPOINT
After the midpoint of the course, students may petition the deadline for withdrawal if they have a nonacademic emergency.
  • Admitted students should submit a petition and supporting documentation to the office of the dean of their academic college.
  • Undeclared, non-matriculated, and pre-major students should apply through the University College Advising Office.
  • Students enrolled in workshops, miscellaneous, and short term courses should contact the Registrar's Office for withdrawal deadlines and petition information.
  • Students enrolled in noncredit courses should contact the Continuing Education Office.
  • Petition forms may be obtained from the appropriate office.
