BROOKS: Brooks (Remote Print Manager) Installation Guide: Remote Print Manager (RPM) is commercial software that provides LPD server functions to the PeopleSoft Heavy Client (FS) environment here at the University of Utah. As it is being implemented, RPM is a version of a remote print function that provides TCP/IP print server software enabling you to print mainframe data to a local printer through designated PCs (located in each department) serving as print servers. This means selected PeopleSoft print jobs can be printed locally.

AD ASTRA: This guide shows user how to install the Ad Astra scheduling client software for production.  The installation takes approximately 2 minutes to install on each workstation.

CITRIX CLIENT for MAC CLIENTS:  Citrix ICA Client Installation Guide For MAC OSX Workstations or Citrix ICA Client Installation Guide For MAC Workstations: Citrix is currently the recommended solution for running PeopleSoft (FS heavy client) and Kronos (Payroll reporter only) applications on MAC workstations. An installation of an "ICA Client" is necessary on the MAC workstation before it can access these modules and this installation guide provides information on that setup. This installation guide is only for MAC workstations. A separate but functionally identical ICA client is available for Windows (Intel) workstations (see below).

CITRIX CLIENT for WINDOWS CLIENTS: For Windows Workstations - Citrix ICA Client Installation Guide: Citrix is currently the recommended solution for running PeopleSoft (FS heavy client) and Kronos (Payroll reporter only) applications on selected Windows workstations. An installation of an "ICA Client" is necessary on the Windows workstation before it can access these modules and this installation guide provides information on that setup. This installation guide is only for Windows workstations. A separate but functionally identical ICA client is available for MAC workstations (see above).

CITRIX USER ID REQUEST FORM: To request a user ID, or change applications for an existing ID, please use the Citrix User ID Request Form.

As more issues are reported, we update our information base and this document changes frequently so please check here for the latest. You can also contribute to solutions. Please email your installation errors or findings to CSG@acs.utah.edu

KRONOS 6: This version of Kronos is accessible only through the Internet.  There are two flavors available for this version: Java (through Campus Information System, or Portal) for Payroll Reporters and Web (HTML) for regular employees.  This document goes through how to set up the Java version. Click here for details.

PEOPLESOFT HR/SA WEB UPGRADE INFORMATION:  The Peoplesoft HE Heavy Client is being replaced by a Web client through Portal technology on October 28th. Here is where you can find all the information you may need for making this transition:

INFORMATION FOR USERS INFORMATION FOR SUPPORTING THE CLIENT

APPLICATIONS FOR USE WITH HR/SA:  The web site for campus users to download selected software for HE v8.x is available here: http://www.acs.utah.edu/acsinternal_uu/ps8/index.html .  Since there will be no heavy clients outside of ACS for HE v8.x, this web site will allow users who still need Crystal Reports and Macros (ex: for Letter Gen), etc., to download software that formerly was available via the heavy client.  This site is not for data downloads.  Downloading from this site will be limited to on campus access and users will need an ID and password to access it (the same ID and password now needed to the access PS cache servers / executables for heavy clients.  Campus users and their LAN Administrators can associate the new site with what they now know as client software.

PURGING PEOPLESOFT CACHE FILES: All PeopleSoft users (except WTS users) will need to PURGE CACHE FILES periodically. To do this, you must first close PeopleSoft. Using HE as an example, go to the Start Menu / Programs / PeopleSoft HE 750 / Configuration Manager and once in Configuration Manager click on the "Common" tab (it is at the top of the Configuration Manager panel). Click on "Purge Cache Directories" and select "Delete All" on the box that opens. Click OK when asked to confirm the deletion. When done, click on Close, then OK to close the Configuration Manager. Then start PeopleSoft. These same directions apply to the Financials client workstations but choose PeopleSoft FS 7 instead of PeopleSoft HE 750 in the second sentence above. Deleting cache files will not adversely impact your PeopleSoft data, just take it a little longer to load the next time you run PeopleSoft.

There is an alternative method to deleting cache files, though the above way is preferred. Open Windows Explorer and find C:\Ps or C:\ps. Under that directory select all subdirectories and delete them to include their contents. Please note that if the default configuration was altered for the workstation, the "ps" directory could be on the D (or other) drive, or named something else. Also note that this is not the preferred method of deleting cache files because it is easy to miss a file if it is in another directory.

PEOPLESOFT TEST GROUP:  There are a number of campus users that help test PeopleSoft before it goes into production for the whole campus. We recommend reading "Advice to Departments and LAN Managers with Heavy PeopleSoft Clients Assisting in Testing."

    UNINSTALL GUIDES:
Uninstall guide for previous versions of PeopleSoft and it's components:  This guide is intended to be used by the LAN Managers that have not removed previous versions of PeopleSoft, Crystal Reports, or Oracle.  It contains two ways to uninstall for PeopleSoft and Crystal Reports; one instructs you to uninstall every component and reinstall (This way is suggested if you plan to remove more than one version), the other instructs you on uninstalling only the previous versions, but keep the current ones.  Time to do either depends on the LAN managers experience and preference.  Because this guide is still new, any feedback is appreciated.

This Oracle Uninstall guide instructs  how to uninstall Oracle v. 7.33, Kronos version 2A.03, and Brass.  Before doing any of these things, please remember that Viking, Kronos 2A.03, and some local programs may still use Oracle 7.33.   Please read the guide carefully & fully before taking action.

SYSTEM AVAILABILITY: ACS systems are available most hours of the day; however, system maintenance is scheduled between 2:00a.m. and 3:00a.m. daily (US Mountain Time). If you experience difficulties during this time, please try again later.
