   Second semester introductory course in ancient Greek for development of reading skill.

1025  Beginning Modern Greek II (4) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 1015.
   Grammar and syntax spoken Greek; readings from modern Greek literature.

2010  Intermediate Classical Greek I (4) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 1020.
   Sharpening of reading skill through prose and poetry passages.

2015  Intermediate Modern Greek I (4) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 1025.
   Second year grammar and syntax of spoken Greek; advanced readings of modern Greek.

2020  Intermediate Classical Greek II (4) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 2010.
   Second semester sharpening of reading skill through prose and poetry passages.

2025  Intermediate Modern Greek II (4) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 2015
   Second year grammar and syntax of spoken Greek; advanced readings of modern Greek.

3610  Third-Year Prose (3) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 2020.
   Prose readings in such authors as Herodotus, Xenophon, and Lysias.

3620  Third-Year Poetry (3) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 2020.
   Poetry readings in such authors as Homer, Sophocles, and Euripides.

4610  Fourth-Year Prose (3) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 3610 or 3620.
   Prose readings in such authors as Thucydides, Plato, and the New Testament.

4620  Fourth-Year Poetry (3) Recommended Prerequisite: GREEK 3610 or 3620.
   Poetry readings in such authors as Aeschylus, lyric poets, and Aristophanes.

4880  Directed Reading (0.5 to 4)
   Readings selected by student and designated professor to broaden student's background in areas where no course is taught.

4990  Capstone Course (1)
   Summary course for graduating majors with requirement of a paper or project demonstrating student's acquired abilities in Greek.

4999  Honors Thesis/Project (3)
   Restricted to students in the Honors Program working on an Honors degree.

6880  Directed Reading (1 to 3) Prerequisite: Graduate Standing.
   Directed readings are designed for advanced graduates to pursue interests with a given professor that go beyond the boundaries of previous classroom work or available class offerings. Students will create a reading list and syllabus of assignments and meetings in conjunction with the professor.
