539 Women Growing Into Wisdom: A Workshop for Women of All Ages
(0)
Rarely heard are the female voices that express the knowledge and blessings that come with age. Why is that? This workshop suggests that culture impacts the way we per ceive ourselves; that we need a more balanced view of women and aging; and that a fuller understanding of the developmental aspects of being female can deepen our experience of growth in the middle and later years of life. What drives our overemphasis on appearance and youth? How does this limit or thwart women, especially in the later years? This workshop confronts the fears that are at the root of our love affair with youth and our denial of age, and creates openings that allow us to view aging in terms of gains rather than losses. We will utilize scholarly and popular writings, poetry, media, discussions, and personal projects with the goal of examining those interpretations that support womanhood as a continuous process of growth, expansion, and production-a process that allows a woman to grow into her own wisdom.

600 Self-Healing Through Reiki
(0)
Reiki is an ancient healing art that uses the body's life energy, or chi, to maintain health and heal disease, especially chronic conditions such as back pain, headaches, and stress-related illnesses. Although other therapeutic systems use energy flow in healing, the unique benefit of Reiki is that you can perform its processes on yourself. In this class, you'll get instruction in clearing blocked energy channels and working with chakras, and receive hands-on experience in performing full body treatments on yourself and others. With your chi in balance, you can enjoy health and well being, as well as create more energy in your everyday life. Lee Ann is a Reiki Master Teacher in practice since 1996. She has been teaching Reiki to private clients and at the Myotherapy College in Salt Lake City since 1999.

We all know what it feels like to not be heard-to have your words either misinterpreted or simply disregarded by your coworkers, friends, or loved ones. In this class, we'll use role playing, shared personal experiences, and professional tips to help you with both sides of the equation. We'll focus on helping you choose the right words to get your message across in a nonconfrontive, productive way, and we'll develop your skills as an active listener-someone who knows how to make the speaker feel esteemed, credible, and acknowledged-as well as a person who can request the same from others when it's his/her turn to talk. Effective communication is the key to successful relationships at home, with friends, and in the workplace. Develop or perfect your skills in this supportive, nonjudgmental environment. 608 Say it So People Will Listen: Give a Great Talk Every Time
(0)
In today's world, adults are expected to be capable of giving a 'talk' whether at work, in church, or for a club or organization. No one is born with this competency; we all simply have to learn it. By following a few guidelines, you can give talks that capture positive attention and boost your sense of genuine confidence. Developing your speaking skills and polishing your talents helps you build confidence, create personal satisfaction, command respect, and generate admiration, achieving the results you desire with your listeners. Your talks can be enjoyable experiences for your listeners, as well as for yourself. This informal class covers what matters most: clear organization; keeping audience attention; audio-visuals; using stories, humor, and examples; projecting a confident voice and positive body language; minimizing performance anxiety; and managing anything unexpected. Irene has more than 25 years experience in the communication arts. She speaks, coaches, and consults nationally and is a trained mediator for Utah courts. Irene has been listed in Who's Who of American Women. She owns Link Communication and CoachLink.

Speaking from the heart involves both the right and left brains. The left brain helps us organize what we want to say in some understandable order. The right brain makes it possible to speak - and listen - with conviction, compassion, caring, and understanding both the words of others and their emotional messages. See how body language, word choice, tone of voice, and listening impact your interpersonal communications.
