   This course assists elementary education majors in becoming familiar with effective methods for integrating dance into the elementary school curriculum. It is a hands-on methods course designed to give preservice teachers confidence and direction in the planning and development of dance-making experiences. Elementary education majors will design and implement dance lessons for elementary age students that foster a holistic approach to creative exploration and discovery. Must also register for THEAT 3715.

   This course provides an introduction to the theoretical system for movement description known as Laban Movement Analysis. Through movement activities, observation, discussion and readings, the conceptual framework of LMA will be examined. The course addresses the study of movement as a concern central to a diversity of fields including performing arts, psychology, anthropology and non-verbal communication.
